Licensing questions
How does the licence work?
After checkout you get a licence key straight away (and a .lic file to download). An administrator pastes it into Settings ▸ Licence in HouseGRC. The key is checked on your server, with no activation server, so it works on isolated networks too.
Who counts as a user?
Each person with an active account who can sign in, whatever their role, including read-only viewers and auditors. Deactivated accounts do not count. Vendors who answer a questionnaire through its link do not need an account and do not count.
What is an installation?
One running copy of HouseGRC with its own database, used for your production records. Every licence also covers one separate test or staging copy, for trying upgrades and settings.
What happens when the year ends?
Renewal is never automatic: you renew only if you want to. If you do not, you keep the right to use every version released while your licence was active, forever. Newer versions need a current licence.
What does the trial include?
Every feature, for 30 days, with no account and no card, for up to 5 users. When it ends HouseGRC becomes read-only until you add a licence: you can still sign in, view and export everything.
Can we run several organisations or clients?
Yes. One installation can hold several organisations, such as subsidiaries, business units or a consultancy's clients, each fully separated. The licence counts the users across all of them.
Do you offer refunds?
Please try HouseGRC free for 30 days before you buy. Refunds are made by Paddle, our reseller: you can ask within 14 days of your purchase through paddle.net, and Paddle decides under its refund policy. We always have a duplicate or mistaken charge, a licence key that never reached you, or a purchase where HouseGRC does not do what this site describes and we cannot fix it, refunded in full. Can we pay by invoice or purchase order?
Yes, for Business and Enterprise. Contact us with what you need and we will send a quote.
Can you host it for us?
Not yet: HouseGRC runs on your own infrastructure. If a hosted option matters to you, let us know.
